Katia Aguiar Cardenas routinely advises domestic and multinational listed and non-listed companies and professional investors on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and domestic and international corporate transactions, with a particular focus on the equity capital market sector.
She also combines sector knowledge and technical expertise to assist domestic and international Clients in negotiating a wide array of commercial contracts helping them to manage their existing or future commercial relationships, including general T&Cs, distribution, commercial agency, marketing & franchising arrangements, manufacturing agreements and IP-license agreements.
Katia Aguiar Cardenas brings her clients an in-depth knowledge of the Mexican business environment, an extensive network of local contacts and significant experience assisting international companies establishing their business in Mexico or venturing with local commercial partners.
Intellectual Property Law
She also has extensive experience counselling clients in the acquisition and sale, as well as in the license and exploitation of intellectual property rights (patent, trademarks, know-how, designs, copyrights, database) also within the frame of wider distribution or manufacturing relationship and IP-related aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
As part of the pre-acquisition review, she assists clients in performing a thorough analysis of the trademark portfolios of the target company to assess the extent of coverage and proper registration maintenance and to determine whether continued use might infringe third party's rights.
